Cointreau® unveils new viral webisode campaign for Cinco de Mayo Holiday, starring international sensation Dita Von Teese
Cointreau is pleased to announce the release of the first “Cointreauversial” short film series, starring international fashion icon and queen of burlesque, Dita Von Teese. The provocative episodes give consumers a historical perspective on Cointreau’s role in the creation of three of the world’s most iconic cocktails, transporting viewers to the time and place of their original creation. Veering from her traditional role on-stage, Dita Von Teese is now in front of the camera to star in three different episodes, each time playing a different character that is integral to the formulation of each classic cocktail. The first film focuses on the birth of the original Margarita recipe with Cointreau, created in 1948 by well-known Texas socialite, Margarita Sames, during a party in her Acapulco cliffside hacienda. She mixed her two favourite spirits, Cointreau and tequila, togetherwith fresh lime juice. Her cocktail was so sensational, that it kept the party going for a full two weeks! Not long after Margarita’s legendary soirée, the Margarita cocktail created a storm across the globe and is today the most popular cocktail in the United States.
“Everybody loves Margaritas, but most people don't know the story of how this classic cocktail come into the world”, says international sensation, Dita Von Teese. "The new viral webisode that Cointreau is launching for Cinco de Mayo, tells the story of the original cocktail and its creation by an amazing, glamorous woman, - Margarita Sames, - who mixed her two favourite spirits, Cointreau and tequila, to make the historic libation. For me it's not a party without a Margarita, and it's not a Margarita without Cointreau!”
