Is Cointreau mandatory for making a margarita ?

To realize the original recipe of the Margarita Cocktail you need to use Cointreau as it is one of the founding ingredients, it represents 30% of the recipe. You can use another triple-sec if you want but it will not taste as good as the original Margarita created by Margaret Sames in 1948.
