To fully appreciate the vivacious spirit of the Margarita, you have to know a bit about its creation. The year was 1948 and the place Acapulco, the tropical getaway for the jet set. A wealthy, fun-loving American socialite named Margaret “Margarita” Sames was hosting one of her notoriously lavish parties and needed a signature cocktail to match. Naturally, she turned to her two favourite spirits: tequila and Cointreau. The drink was a smashing success and “The Drink” fittingly came to be known as the “Margarita.”
