Whether lemon, lime, orange, or grapefruit… This popular garnish is an eye-catching way to flavor your cocktail with potent essences contained in citrus peels. You can use a paring knife or Y-shaped vegetable peeler to get neat twists.
Remember: The goal is to get as little pith (the bitter white membrane in contact with the pulp) as possible.
How to make a citrus twist
Choose a citrus with a firm peel
Cut out a piece of peel with a knife or peeler
If necessary, remove any excess white pith using a sharp knife and cutting board.
Holding the white part up, twist and pinch the citrus peel over the drink.
